1. Who we are

Native English Community ("we", "us") operates Native Skills Hub. We are the data controller for the personal data we collect about you through the Service. You can contact us at nativeskillshub@gmail.com.

2. Personal data we collect

• Account data — name, email address, password (stored hashed), and your chosen studios.
• Profile & submissions — writing samples, reading progress, vault entries, and any content you create or submit for AI-generated feedback.
• Subscription data — plan, status, renewal date (we do not see or store full card details — Paddle handles those).
• Support communications — emails or messages you send us.
• Usage & device data — pages visited, features used, IP address, browser, device, and approximate location, used for security, analytics, and product improvement.
• Cookies — essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the Service.

3. How we use your data

• To create and manage your account (legal basis: contract).
• To provide the studios, deliver feedback, and personalize your learning (contract).
• To process payments and manage subscriptions via Paddle (contract).
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and to keep the Service secure (legitimate interests).
• To improve the product based on aggregated usage (legitimate interests).
• To respond to support requests (contract / legitimate interests).
• To comply with legal obligations (legal obligation).
• To send service-related emails. Marketing emails only with your consent (consent).

4. Who we share data with

• Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles checkout, payments, subscription billing, tax compliance, invoicing, and refunds. Paddle processes your payment data under its own privacy notice.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — to host the application, database, and authentication system.
• AI service providers — for the Writing Lab, your submissions are sent to a third-party AI provider that generates feedback based on instructions and rubrics designed by our expert teachers. The provider processes your content under contract and does not use it to train its models.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where reasonably necessary.
• Authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and the safety of users.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. International transfers

Our service providers may process data outside Egypt, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses with these providers.

6. Data retention

We keep account and submission data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards (typically up to 24 months) so you can reactivate, and to meet legal and accounting obligations. After that, we delete or anonymize it. Billing records held by Paddle follow Paddle's own retention rules.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• correct inaccurate data;
• delete your data ("right to be forgotten");
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• request a copy of your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. Paddle may set its own cookies during checkout to process your transaction. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies may break parts of the Service.

10. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). If we learn that we have collected data from a child without appropriate consent, we will delete it.

11. Changes to this Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be notified to you by email or in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version.
